TCM information database that is built by SIRC/TCM and developed on the basis of National Key Projects of the “10th Five-Year Plan” is a large-scale comprehensive information platform integrating TCM, bio-pharmacy, information technology and chemistry. Five independent as well as inter-related TCM information databases are set up in terms of the interaction of diseases, formulae, Chinese medicine, TCM compounds and compound activity. It is reputed at home and abroad for its novel design, powerful data and unique function.

Laboratory of TCM Genomics  
The Laboratory of TCM Genomics has established a TCM functional genomics platform for TCM screening and research. Integrating common TCM curative effect screening with research methods of genomics, proteomics and metabolomics, the platform can be used for drug screening, drug functional mechanism study and TCM drug target detection. The results of these studies will enrich the TCM database and direct the modern TCM research and development.

Center of Analysis and Testing  
The Laboratory of Analysis and Testing is one of the eight pioneering apparatus suppliers that build up a shared instrumental platform under Pudong Biomedical Association. In addition to routine analytical testing, the laboratory is specialized in separation and purification of compounds from Medicinal herbs and raw chemical materials. Researches on structural analysis, quality standardization of healthcare products, food and drugs, as well as TCM fingerprint are being conducted in the lab.

The laboratory of Phytochemistry is dedicated to research and development of new Chinese medicine, innovation of techniques in separation, purification, structural identification, extraction of natural drugs, medical plants, herbs, microorganism hypo-metabolism chemical components. The lab is also engaged in development of functional healthcare drug on the basis of natural active substances. New technology and products with independent intellectual property rights are industrialized.

The Laboratory of Pharmacology and Toxicology possesses a well-equipped animal facility with internationally advanced IVC independent ventilated breeding cages. Various in vivo pharmacological and toxicological studies can be carried out in the lab.
The Laboratory of Pharmacology and Toxicology also has a cell culture facility with a complete outfit of ultra-low temperature refrigerator, liquid nitrogen container, laminar flow cabinet, inverse microscope, CO2 incubator and Bio-Rad micro plate reader, etc. There are different cancer and normal cell lines available in the facility...
   
Lab of Organic Synthesis
 
Lab of Organic Synthesis  
The Laboratory of Organic Synthesis was initiated for research and development (R&D) of saponin that contain significant pharmacological activities. The laboratory has also undertaken many key R&D programs including one National 863 project and some major projects funded by Science and Technology Commission of Shanghai Municipality. Rich experience in total synthesis of natural saponin and oligosaccharides has been obtained and quite a few patents have been authorized by State Intellectual Property Office of the People’s Republic of China.
